TEXTBOOK RETURN:
CHECKING IN TEXTBOOKS:
All textbooks must be returned to the school library on (or before) the last day of class.
Students must return the same book they checked out. There is no credit given for turning in another student’s book. Students should wait to see that their book is checked in and verify that their record is CLEAR.
Books that have been lost, stolen, damaged, forgotten, or misplaced will not be cleared from a student’s record until the book has been returned, payment has been made, or a replacement book has been provided.
CLEARING OBLIGATIONS:
Students who have a school textbook on their library record that cannot be returned or is damaged beyond repair have a responsibility to provide a replacement book to the school (as per Ventura Unified School District Board Policy 6161.2).
Students have two choices to clear their record:
Replacement textbooks provided by the student must have the correct ISBN or they will not be accepted.
Students will not be cleared with only a receipt: unfortunately, we have had students order the wrong edition of a textbook, or the order has been cancelled because the book was out of stock.
- Students may return textbooks early with their teacher’s approval.

Students have two choices to clear their record:
- Students may pay the school the publisher’s price for a new book with cash or check.
- Students may choose to purchase an identical textbook in GOOD condition and bring it to the library to clear their obligation. If the student wishes to purchase a replacement copy online, please come to the library to get the correct ISBN. There are instructions here on the library web site, and there is also an instruction sheet available in the library.
